Parabole (Prelude)
01:18
|
|||
Matthew 13:1-3
That same day
Jesus left the house and he
sat by the lake
sat by the lake
And as he sat
by the water's side
such a large crowd came
a large crowd came
That he got into a boat
on the water
and sat as the people stood on shore
Then he opened up his mouth
and told them many things
in parables

Sower
04:15
|
|||
Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23
SOWER
See there's a farmer who goes out to sow
Working, he scatters the seed as he goes
And some of the seed falls down along the path
Whoever hears of the message about
the kingdom of God but does not understand
is like the seed fallen along the path
An enemy
comes to seize
An enemy
comes to seize
what's sown in that heart
Some of the seed fell on the rocky ground
Down where there wasn't much soil to be found
It sprang up in haste but withered next day in the sun
Though it grew
up in joy
Trouble killed what was grown
with shallow roots
Other seed fell among thorns on the way
Choked by the worries of the world today
Stifled by all the deceitful glamour of wealth
And that seed
did not sprout
So deceived
crowded out
by other noise
But there was seed that had fallen on earth
where there was rich soil
a crop to be birthed
of hundred and sixty and thirty times
what had been sown
Whoever has ears
let him hear

Yeast
03:07
|
|||
Matthew 13:33
The Kingdom of Heaven
is like the yeast
a woman uses when she's baking bread
Small is the portion of yeast to flour
but when she's worked it through the dough
it rises high
It will rise and rise
It will rise and rise
It will rise and rise
and rise

Pearl
06:00
|
|||
Matthew 13:35-36
It is like a merchant on the hunt
on the lookout for the finest pearls
Eager eyes exploring tabletops
market places, roaming caravans
And he finds that special pearl
for he understands its worth
So this man of business goes his way
sells all that he owns without delay
And returning pays his final coin
vouching his desire with action
And he buys that special pearl
For he understands its great worth
And he buys that special pearl
For he understands its great worth
Here is the pearl of great price
discovered by those with searching eyes
And those who recognise its worth
will say their all was cheap enough
Here is the pearl of great price
discovered by those with searching eyes
And for those who recognise its worth
they'll say their all was cheap enough
May you find that special pearl
one day understand it's worth
May you find that special pearl
one day understand it's worth
Here is a treasure which demands
hungry action on our behalf
Not just to want it from afar
but to act until it stains our hearts
There is a treasure which demands
action from those who spy that land
Not just to want it in our dreams
but invest in its reality

Wheat and Weeds
06:10
|
|||
Matthew 13:24-43
A man sowed good seed in a field
A man sowed good seed in a field
But when his house was fast asleep
an enemy came sowing weeds among the wheat
So when the wheat sprouted up
So when the wheat sprouted up
also the weeds chased the sun
and the man saw what his enemy had done
Side by side
Side by side
let them stand
Did you not sow good seed
Did you not sow good seed
The master's servants asked of him
If you did why is your crop so filled with weeds
Should we go pull them up
Should we go pull them up
But he said no for you,
as you pull weeds, may uproot the wheat too
Side by side
Side by side
let them stand
See the field of the world
See the field of the world
In his mercy he will wait
till the harvest, till the end of the age
Side by side
Side by side
let them stand

Sprouting Seed
03:31
|
|||
Mark 4:26-29
The kingdom of God is
like a man who
scatters seeds unto
the ground
Nights he sleeps and
days he's waking
while those seeds
begin to sprout
Deep in the ground
in the darkness
lies a secret
laying hidden
a mystery
in the dark
But can this man know
how the soil could
bring a crop forth
by itself?
Stalk, grain emerging
life is growing
without man's help
in the dark

Mustard Seed
02:32
|
|||
Matthew 13:31-32
A mustard seed
a man had planted
The smallest one
a tiny grain will yield
the largest plant
stood in the garden
And all the birds
they will nest in its branches
All the birds
they will rest on its branches
The smallest word
humble beginnings
It grows and grows
Arms reaching out and out
Into a tree
stood in the garden
And little ones, little ones
they will rest there
Little ones, little ones
they will rest there
Little ones, little ones
they will rest there

Buried
02:38
|
|||
Matthew 13:44-46
A treasure buried in a field
buried in the dark, dark, earth
So easily its missed
easily dismissed as dirt
But when a man discovers it
recognises pricelessness
He hides it again and in joy
he sells
all that he has to buy that field
A treasure hidden in a world
buried in the hearts of men
If we would truly its price
nothing else would qualify as wealth
For when a man discovers it
recognises pricelessness
he hides it again and in joy
he sells
all that he has to buy that field

Dragnet
03:31
|
|||
Matthew 13:44-48
The net is thrown into the lake
and without prejudice
the dragnet catches all sorts
It does not target or exclude
the bad, the ugly, or the good
It catches all sorts
And its arms do not discriminate
And some of us would be upset
to find the sort of catch the dragnet makes
We'd be surprised when some are drawn
into the kingdom's open arms
But who are we to limit this fire's spread
His words are thrown into the crowd
and without prejudice
his message catches all sorts
They do not target or exclude
the bad, the ugly, or the used
It catches all sorts
His call does not discriminate
and some of us have been irate
to see the type of souls his message pulls
And it would take our breath away
to see the full and vast array
of unexpected souls who make the cut
His call does not discriminate
And some of us would truly hate
to find the sort of people he has drawn
So surprised when some have come
into the King's audacious arms
See how his reckless kingdom calls
His call does not discriminate
And some of us would truly hate
to see the sort of people he has drawn
So surprised when some have come
into the King's audacious arms
See how his reckless kingdom calls

Keep Seeing
05:03
|
|||
Matthew 13;10-17
For they'll keep on hearing but never
never understand
They will keep seeing but never
never comprehend
Because the heart
of this people
has grown dull
The heart of this people
has turned dull
But you
how blessed are your eyes
because you have seen me
your ears
for they hear me
Many prophets had
longed to see these things
but did not see them
And they'll keep on hearing but never
never understand
They will keep seeing but never
never comprehend
Because the heart
of this people
has turned dull
Yes, the heart of this people
has turned dull
But you
how blessed are your eyes
Because they have seen me
your ears for they hear me
But you
how blessed are your eyes
Because you have seen me
your ears for they hear me
Oh, blessed are our eyes
Blessed are our eyes
For we have seen you

treasures old and new
In our storeroom
are treasures old and new

treasures old and new

who becomes my disciple
in the Kingdom is like the owner of a house
who from his storeroom brings out

Since Creation
03:02
|
|||
Psalm 78:2, Matthew 13:34-35
All these things
Yeshua
said to crowds in parables
Indeed he
said nothing
to them without doing so
This was to fulfil
what the prophet had foretold
I'll open up my mouth
and will speak
in parables
and I will say
what's been
hidden since
the creation of the Universe
