See there's a farmer who goes out to sow
Working, he scatters the seed as he goes
And some of the seed falls down along the path

Whoever hears of the message about
the kingdom of God but does not understand
is like the seed fallen along the path

An enemy
comes to seize
An enemy
comes to seize
what's sown in that heart

Some of the seed fell on the rocky ground
Down where there wasn't much soil to be found
It sprang up in haste but withered next day in the sun

Though it grew
up in joy
Trouble killed what was grown
with shallow roots

Other seed fell among thorns on the way
Choked by the worries of the world today
Stifled by all the deceitful glamour of wealth

And that seed
did not sprout
So deceived
crowded out
by other noise

But there was seed that had fallen on earth
where there was rich soil
a crop to be birthed
of hundred and sixty and thirty times
what had been sown

Whoever has ears
