Yovel

from Shavat by Natalie Kendel

/

about

Yovel is a Hebrew word with three meanings: “Ram’s horn“, “Jubilee” and “to be carried”. The year of Sabbath, as observed by the Jews, would be opened with the blowing of a ram's horn (Shofar).

The sound often signified a gathering of the people, whether to communion or battle.
