Like Jonah
04:54
|
|||
Have I like Jonah seen the city
shaking slow my head in pity
Who could turn a place with such a stain?
Have I with sureness damned their days
dismissed the chance of even one saved
and chalked the whole thing up to ruin?
And I have mourned the withering
of shrubs before a people
Caring more for what gives shade
than what might bring their freedom
For I don't run away
from Calling 'cause I'm afraid
No, I run because I know
the mercy of the Lord
Have I found comfort in their fates
finality of sentences
Thinking that it seals my solid standing?
So off to sea, I try to hide
my satisfaction with the tides
to see how great a distance there's
between us
And I have mourned the withering
of plants before a people
Caring more for what gives shade
than what could bring them justice
And I don't run away
from Calling 'cause I'm afraid
No, I run because I know
the mercy of the Lord
Punishment I longed to see delivered
has been denied me
Must you spread your arms so wide, my Lord
Must you be so quick to heal
Where's the anger, where's your zeal
Must I share your kingdom with these people
And I have run away
From Calling 'cause I'm afraid
I've run because I know
the mercy of the Lord
I know He'd want to stay His hand
and we would land on different judgements
And though I raised my gavel high
I'm bound by the mercy of the Lord
I'm found by the mercy of the Lord
They're saved by the mercy of the Lord
I know that you are merciful
I know you are compassionate,
You are slow to anger, rich in grace

Skin
03:51
|
|||
God who revealed himself
to a prince in the desert
He who composed stars
appears in a shrub
And God whose very presence
is an all-consuming fire
now holds back His strength
so the bush does not burn up
God who lay down the
foundations of matter
showed he was with them in a pillar of smoke
and He who'd imagined the building bricks of atoms
shortens his steps to give the people hope
Men claw for height as they reach
and they climb
But this king he is crowned
for he chose to step down
Men claw for height as they grab
and they climb
but this King he is crowned for he
chose to kneel down down down
Who is this God
who to would choose our skin
to reach us
to be near us

Big
03:31
|
|||
When we were young we would dream of journeys
sailing off to far away lands
Being a preacher, a missionary
Winning their souls with a Bible in hand
The street is your parish
Your neighbour your flock
Your friends and your family
your duty to love
You don't have to look far to see
where God calls us
He said "Be faithful in the small"
Those small things are big to him, after all
I ask myself if it was my calling
or the cry of my own pride
to make a name or feel my own importance
Do I see the point anymore - to humbly serve
my brother next door?
The street is your parish
Your neighbour your flock
Your friends and your family
your duty of love
We don't have to look far to see
where God calls us
He said "Be faithful in the small"
Those small things are big to him, after all

When I grow deaf to hear the echo of you words
will you open up my ears again
When I grow deaf to hear the voice that I have drowned
will you open up my ears again
You know O Lord my ears are dull
these blunted instruments
would leave me in the dark
But in the fog I still cry out for you
I know your words are strong enough
to pierce through
When I fall short of acting on your holy words
will you open up my hands again
When apathy would make my mind into its home
will you open up my hands again
You know O Lord my ears are dull
these blunted instruments
would leave me in the dark
but in the fog I still cry out
for you
I know your words are strong enough
to pierce through
When I grow noise where I should cultivate a still
will you open up my heart again
Your words are a light for my eyes and to my step
will you op en up your mouth again
You know O Lord my ears are dull
these blunted instruments
would leave me in the dark
but in the fog I still cry out
for you
I know your words are strong enough
to pierce through
You know O Lord my ears are dull
these blunted instruments
have left me in the dark
but in the fog I still cry out
for you
I know your words are strong enough
to bleed through

God our father
Our Provider
You, the Giver of good things
More than bread
come satisfy us
with your Word and company
Jesus, brother
Our Defender
Multiply our gifts and fruits
Let us give our lives to service
that our actions reflect you
Holy Spirit
Our comfort
Breathe in us community
Stir our hunger
for your presence
Make this home a family
