Life is not an object
a thing which can be wrapped
placed into a box
and granted mortal man
Life itself’s a Person:
life personified
And if you would be living
you must draw close to Christ

Life is sort of caught:
it's contagious in its spread.
If you longed for warmth
at a fire you would sit.
Must get in the water
if wanting to get wet.
And so it is with living:
you must draw close to Christ

How could he give life without himself?
How could he give blessings in his absence?
Life and love and goodness
don’t exist outside the Lord
So his presence means to live forevermore

Good itself’s a Person
love personified
and if you try to seek him
you’ll come to realise
that he was always drawing
you home to Jesus Christ
