What if we
when the world becomes a harsher place
we choose
to show instead a kinder face:
refuse
to pay back
their hate with hate,
but instead fight a better way

when life becomes a harder thing,
we choose
to be generous in scarcity
We lose
not a thing
that is not gained
as a gift and blessing too

And I could preach a thousand sermons,

I could try force agreement
punish those who won’t align,
I could overthrow the tyrants
while I slowly take their place,
but a different kind of kingdom
must be established in a different kind of way
