Isela Muzquiz I like this music. It's not too loud and noisy like most contemporary "Christian" music out there. The lyrics are rich full of scriptural references if not direct quotes, which i like. It's like singing the bible almost. And the music is smooth flowing. I found myself, after listening to it the first time, humming or singing phrases from her songs which put me in a good mood whilst cleaning house. :) Favorite track: Today.

Assemblies 04:32
“Why are all those sacrifices offered to me?” asks Adonai “I’m fed up with your burnt offerings and the fat of your rams! I get no pleasure when they die. “Yes, you come to appear in my presence; but who asked you to do this thing, to trample through my courtyards? Stop bringing worthless offerings! They are disgusting incense to me!” Worthless assemblies worthless assemblies Your leaders are rebels and your friends are thieves I cannot bear your worthless assemblies Once you were filled with justice but now you love a bribe You run after gifts but give no justice to orphans You have no ear to the widow's sigh Worthless assemblies worthless assemblies Your leaders are rebels and your friends are thieves I cannot bear your worthless assemblies Rosh-Hodesh and Shabbat and your calling convocations How I hate your festivals they are burden to me Your worthless assemblies: when your hands aren't clean Your leaders are rebels and your friends are thieves I cannot bear to hear the empty prayers that you speak Can't you see that love and justice shown to the weak are true sacrifice and true worship of me Let me heal your worthless assemblies worthless assemblies Your leaders are rebels and your friends are thieves but I am the One who truly heals

Yud 02:12
Do not think I have come to abolish the Torah or the words the Prophets spoke No, but to complete them. Do not think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the words the Prophets spoke No, but to complete them. Truly I tell you until Heaven and Earth passes away not even the smallest letter not the least stroke of a pen will disappear Truly I tell you until Heaven and Earth passes away not even the smallest letter not the least stroke of a pen will disappear until it is accomplished until it is accomplished - everything So whoever disobeys the least of these commandments, teaching others to do so, will be the the least in my Kingdom

Jubilee 10:32
LYRICS The Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, “Speak to the people and say: When you come into the land I give you, the land shall keep a Sabbath year of rest For six years you shall do your sowing For six years gather fruits and prune But in the seventh year you shall put aside your work and trust the Lord to provide your food For a year trust the Lord to care for you Sing the joy of Jubilee The year of rest and liberty Trust the Lord with all you need He will provide and set you free This year was a chance for deliverance A chance for the poor to gain their strength Where debts between people was cancelled And slaves were released as free men Cycles of poverty were broken A whole nation falling to their knees Turning to God for atonement, to be cleansed from social problems and from sins from social problems and from sin Sing the song of Jubilee The year of rest and liberty Trust the Lord with all you need He will provide and set you free But years after Israel was settled they ceased to uphold the Lord's command Exploiting each other in a system with no release for the helpless or the land And the voice of the prophets rose in protest Calling out for justice and for grace Retelling how the Lord delivered them long ago When they were only hopeless slaves When they were hopeless slaves Sing the song of Jubilee The year of rest and liberty Trust the Lord with all you need He will provide and set you free As was his custom on the Sabbath A Nazarene goes to the synagogue The room is hushed as the Rabbi steps up unfurls the soft leather of a scroll And those old, familiar words of Isaiah roll of the tongue of Him who spoke them first Oh the prophecy they looked to - the Messiah's reign - was poured out like showers for their thirst He poured out like showers for their thirst Sing the song of Jubilee The year of rest and liberty Trust the Lord with all you need He will provide and set you free The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, liberty to captives, sight for the blind, freedom for the oppressed; To proclaim the year of the Lord's favour Jesus is the Jubilee The source of rest and liberty By His reign He sets us free And all who trust in Him will live Jesus is our Jubilee Our Mashiach, true liberty All who trust in Him will see the golden age of the Jubilee Jesus is the Jubilee

Oneg 03:06
“Why should we fast if no-one can see it Humble ourselves unseen by His eyes?” These are the words so blindly spoken By those who claim to know God's mind He says: What is the point of fasting or bowing if it will lead to fighting or pride? Can you not see its not your performance that leads to your voice being heard on high Do I want you to earn other's marvel by hanging your head with sackcloth and ash? Do you imagine that this could please me? Is this what you would call a fast? Here is the sort of fasting I'm seeking: Go and release the unjustly bound! Go breaks the chains, Share food with the hungry, taking the homeless into your house Then will your light burst out like the morning Then you will call, and I will reply Go meet the needs of people in trouble then you will taste His joy and delight If you hold back your foot on the Shabbat Calling it holy and a delight And if you do not chase your own interests Then into heights He'll cause you to rise Suffering and pain is not what the Lord wants but for His joy to cause us to serve. Tell me how do you think He would want you keeping his Sabbath day in Oneg? Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice in the joy of the Lord

Shalom 04:05
At the end of his life with fear tugging his sleeve Jesus took the time to comfort his disciples Speaking words that would float: a life raft in the storm to come Reminding them that fear is just a lie That God would never leave their side What I leave with you is Shalom Giving you my Shalom I don't give the way the world gives Do not let yourselves be troubled and do not be frightened Remember I conquer the world At the end of that day with tumult blocking memories Thomas said: “We don't know where you are going, Lord” Though many years since then We still wonder where He is But His reply remains the same, He says: “I am the way” What I leave with you is Shalom Giving you my Shalom I don't give the way the world gives Do not let yourselves be troubled and do not be frightened Remember I have conquered the world Ooo... What I leave with you is Shalom Giving you my Shalom I don't give the way the world gives Do not let yourselves be troubled and do not be frightened Remember I have conquered the world

Mankind 04:48
A privilege, a benefit An honour and intimate gift An open door for everyone: both for Jews and Gentiles Not meant to be a drudgery Not designed to be a task For it's Maker did not plan to make Sabbath a burden The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath If you think you guard this day by burdening another soul See! It's set apart for that very soul to be restored! The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind made for the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath So the Son of Man is the of the Sabbath is the Lord of the Sabbath

(Genesis 2:3, Exodus 20:8-11) On this Sabbath day we take the time to persist from our own works, and recall the day God rested from all the beauty he had made. Chorus: And we ask that his restoring power recreates his life inside of us, for by remembering we rest on this holy day. When we recall that God is God, and life depends on him, we can stop pretending we're in charge, and let the King be king. It is more than just a cease from toil, or a passive pause of work. For we find true rest when we recall that we have a Creator. This memorial to his good work now invites us to partake. All humanity is welcomed in to the blessings of this day.

Return 05:15
I love that Adonai heard my voice when I prayed Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live The cords of death were all around me Shol's constrictions held me fast But I called: Adonai, come save me! In my anguish and distress I remembered your compassion Saying: Adonai, please save me! Return, oh my soul, to your rest I was brought low down In my panic I cried out: “Every man's a liar! Is there nothing I can trust, only doubt?” But in all of your dealings with me, Lord You have been generous, How can I repay your good? For I called: Adonai, come save me! In my anguish and distress I remember your compassion Saying: Adonai, please save me! Return, oh my soul, to your rest So I will keep on trusting even when I afraid I'm the child of a slave-girl Oh Adonai, I am your slave! I will keep my vows in your presence In the courtyards of your house, freed from chains, I keep my vow “Adonai, come save me!” In our anguish and distress We remember your compassion Saying: Adonai, please save me! Return, oh my soul, to your rest Adonai! Come save me! In my anguish and distress I remember your compassion Saying: Adonai, come save me! Return, oh my soul, to your rest Return my soul to your rest

(2 Corinthians 12:9) The score of the day strings me up like a deadman A violin weeping Each stroke is a dark sin And I am confronted once more with the truth that I've secretly harboured the thought “I'm not that bad” Make my messes matter Make this chaos count The only hope I do have is that in your hands You turn dark to morning yet another chance to paint in big bold letters across the pages of my life There is rest for the wicked There is rest for the wicked The melody gapes at my selfish behaviour Told myself my ship would safe in this harbour; Sinking in deep waters of my constant comparing; The sum of my own faults to the faults in others Make my messes matter Make this chaos count The only hope I do have is that in your hands You turn dark to morning yet another chance to paint in big bold letters across the pages of my life There is rest for the wicked There is rest for the wicked The chasms they stand like an army to wrestle me out of the chance that I might call your Name The distance is screaming; a desert, a tally between who I am and who I want to be When I don't know who I am but I know who I'm not I feel less like a work of progress than a stagnant cause Just as I turn to those empty, well-acquainted solutions of earning my way back to you I hear you... I hear your voice, your whisper above the chants of shame The voice does not excuse me but rather offers to forgive For when we realise we cannot save ourselves that's when the door is opened and lets our Hero in He make your messes matter makes your chaos count the only we hope we do have is that in his hand He turns dark to morning just another chance to paint in big bold letters across the pages of our lives

If Joshua had given Israel the fullness of the rest that God had promised them Then God would not have spoken of a day to come: A Sabbath-rest that still remains Because we have a Priest who understands the depth of human suffering, experience Who empathizes with our weak and tempted hearts We have a true defence in Jesus Christ Today if you hear His voice do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion Today if you hear His voice do not hide in your works but rest from them This will be a sign of who are His Those who do not disobey but trust in this: That nothing you could ever do could earn a thing Only trust in all that Jesus does and is But trust in all that Jesus does and is Today if you hear His voice do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion Today if you hear His voice do not hide in your works but rest from them Today when you hear His voice do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion Today when you hear His voice do not hide in your works but rest in His

He lights a candle, pours the wine Neither can recall the last time He's been so busy, chained to work Forgot to put his bride first Now holding hands they watch the flame Speaking soft each other's names A promise he intends to keep, made long ago at a wedding feast Ooh... She lights two candles, speaks the words Light is peeking through her fingers Praying for her family for growth and warmth and safety While Friday's sun is dying out They all approach a table set The old and young will have a piece of a supper worthy of a wedding feast Ooh... He lights the city, pours the wine He hasn't drunk it since that dark night A thousand generations sit A million promises He kept And holding out His branded hands He welcomes home His ransomed Bride Once we were the very least But now we attending His wedding feast Ooh... Here is drink and here is food There's a seat saved just for you Let us sing and tell old tales Here the times will melt away He has infiltrated Death at the sound of His footsteps Only brothers, sisters here At the feast of the Bridegroom Come to the table!

about

Following a narrative from the morning of Creation in Genesis, to a table set for a wedding feast in Revelation, Shavat invites the listener to experience the Sabbath.

Shavat proposes Sabbath as not as an exclusive experience for Jews or certain Christians, but an invitation to all mankind from God. Sabbath is an expression of God’s intentions for human beings: one of rest, revival, holistic restoration, and trust in his care. And it all begins when we remembering who He is.

“Remember the Sabbath day, for by doing so, you are keeping it holy…”
